Pandemic self-care tips for women
Pandemic has taken a mental toll, and we all agree! This pandemic made me realize that it is unhealthy to over think things that are not under my control. I started believing that I should start focusing on things that make a difference for me, the inner me. What is under my control is my thoughts and body. To control my thoughts and rejuvenate myself, I started incorporating some self-care habits into my routine.
Wait! It has nothing to do with money. This is budget self-care.
What works for me might not work for you. That’s why I have come up with solid self-care tips for women that are common. Yes, these are common, but we still forget to do it.
The most common complaints that I came across on social media is people becoming lazy and feeling isolated. There is only so much you can do about feeling isolated, but there is a lot you can do to feel better and be active.
Spend more time with nature: Nature helps, and nature heals. Take a walk or sit under a tree. I understand finding trees to sit under is a task now. How sad is that? That being said, you can plant a tree and nurture it. Try growing a plant that gives vegetables. Once a day, get off your house and go to at least the next street. These things will make you feel that you are not restricted. You could also pet animals or spend some time with them.
Make yourself a drink: Tea, coffee, Jägerbomb, or whatever you can make. Try something you haven’t tried before. Spend time with your drink, and probably take a picture for Instagram. Because, why not!
Facial and whatnot: If you are someone who likes a spa day, then give yourself one. Oil, steam, mask, shower, and do everything that you want to.
Get off your phone: This pandemic has glued our eyes and screens. Take a little time off. The next time you charge your phone, leave it aside and listen to a podcast or go to the terrace to see the sunset.
Meditate: Though this pandemic has made us lazy, it has also made us think about mental health and self-care. Meditation helps in limiting thoughts and which is something we all need. No, I am not asking you to wake up in the early morning (sleep cycle laughing), throw a mat on the floor, and start meditating. Do it at any time of the day when you feel like it. Do some exercises along with it.
Move away from toxicity: It could be a person or a habit! If you think something is toxic and makes you feel bad about yourself, it’s high time you took action against it. If you believe the news is toxic for you, then uninstall news apps. Remember! This pandemic time is for you to acknowledge and accept flaws and work on it.
Find ways to connect with your friends and family: You can always video call or text. If you know it is safe, then you can meet a couple of friends nearby. However, please take complete precautions when doing so.
You can also try adopting a new lifestyle or a habit. For example, you can adopt an organic or vegan lifestyle. It doesn’t have to be something that will improve your skills or make you productive. If it makes you feel better, just go for it.
If you want to do something productive, then don’t think twice about applying for internships and jobs. It could be competitive considering the job loss and more students wanting to take up internships. Don’t let rejection mail shred your self-confidence. Hone your skills and keep learning from rejection. Persistently try applying, and don’t underestimate yourself.
Happy self-care, ladies!
